This paper presents an alternative interpretation of the relation used for computing the bus admittance matrix (Y-BUS) of electrical networks. We show that this alternate view permits the development of a new algorithm for computing the Y-BUS. The most important feature of the proposed algorithm is that it enables us to handle mutually coupled elements in a network in a manner almost identical to the simple method widely used for elements with no mutual coupling. The new algorithm is illustrated with a detailed example. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
