We introduce and analyse a new multiprocessor interconnection topology, called the Petersen-twisted cube (PTQ) network, which is constructed from the cartesian product of the Petersen graph and the twisted cube. The main features of the PTQ network are small diameter, high node package density, and improved fault-tolerance. We propose a method to tackle the hot spot problem associated with the conventional twisted cube. We discuss the embedding of some standard topologies, and develop algorithms for point-to-point routing and broadcasting. We also discuss some performance measures for the PTQ networ
