The measurement of small differences in density of liquids has found increasing use in the monitoring of concentration of liquid mixtures. The concentration can be measured by its effect on the refractive index. This paper reports a simple and yet sensitive technique for the measurement of the change in refractive index of liquid mixtures by using the speckle generated in a multimode optical fiber. The results show that changes in refractive index as small as 0.0001 can be measure
