We address the problem of decomposing a handpass signal into amplitude arid frequency modulated components (AM and FM respectively). Several estimators have been pro posed in literature. each of which works under specific assumptions. In this paper, we perform a comparative study of some popular techniques hy studying their performance with changes in the modulation parameters and the tradeoffs involved. We also study their performance in the presence of handpass white Gaussian noise
