This thesis studies the potential of the area of Amedzofe located in Ghana for wind power projects from aspects of technical and financial viability, and the risks concerning such a project. The objective was to create a framework for a wind power plant project, which can be used to decide whether continuing the project towards more cost intensive project phases. The research methods used in this thesis are literature research focusing on literature concerning project management, wind energy technology and risk management, and wind speed data purchased from the Energy Commission of Ghana, which was used to choose suitable wind turbine technology for the project and estimating annual energy production for Amedzofe.
