The purpose of this thesis was to obtain a general view of the Sarbanes Oxley Act, SOX, and especially internal controls that are an essential part of SOX. Internal controls have been considered from a financial point of view. Thesis describes financial internal controls and key processes of the case Company X Oy. Sarbanes Oxley Act is an act that has been launched in year 2002 in the United States and regulates companies that are listed on the United States Stock Exchange. Because the headquarter of the case company is based in Chicago, there is a possibility that the company will be listed on the US Stock Exchange in the future.
