The purpose of this publication is to update the state of the art research and future sights for hydrogen and battery based energy storage systems. Even though batteries are well known technology and hydrogen have been called energy carrier of the future for decades now, the development of large-scale electrical energy storages has been challenging. This study takes a look at the current situation of energy storage markets. In this report, there are described current technologies to generate, store and convert hydrogen back to electricity, and furthermore common battery technologies are presented.
