This chapter aims to document my journey as a Black female academic who has witnessed and experienced racism in public health (first through my mother's and aunt's experiences in the National Health Service NHS) and then when I myself was working in health promotion and public health. Factors influencing health have motivated all my degree choices: my first degree, master's degree topic, and my PhD research. This brings me to my current role as an early career researcher who happens to be in her sixties, who is trying to address the gaps in research on Black women's health, so that Black women can live the long and healthy lives we deserve
