Indicators of environmental recovery in different forest covers, Alegre ES

This study aimed to evaluate the natural regeneration, biomass and nutrients from the litter and soil chemical properties, as indicators of environmental recovery in a conservation area on the municipality of Alegre, ES. The field activities were conducted between September 2010 and March 2011, using as treatments, three different forest covers included on the Area of Ecological Interest (ARIE) Laerth Paiva Gama, being a Native Forest (MN), a reforestation of eucalyptus and acacia (REA) and Reforestation of various species (RED). Natural regeneration was evaluated by floristic and phytosociology of individuals, accumulated litter, the amount of biomass, nutrient content and accumulation in two collection periods, the first in the late dry season and the second in the late rainy season, and the soil chemical properties, analysis of fertility in two depths, 0 - 20 cm and 20 - 40 cm. In the natural regeneration of the coverage there was a low floristic diversity for REA and somewhat higher for MN and RED, high dominance of few species, equability was similar between the covers and just kind Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit. was similar between them. In all the covers, the quantity of biomass was greater in the dry season and followed values decreasing the amount of biomass in both samples, REA > RED > MN. The levels of potassium, magnesium and boron, were also higher in the dry season, while the nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur, copper, iron, manganese and zinc, and organic carbon content differed only between the covers. The accumulation of nutrients was higher in the dry season, also corroborating with the highest accumulation of biomass. The decreasing order of macronutrients accumulated for collection was performed in the dry season in MN and REA: N > Ca > K > Mg > S > P and RED: N > Ca > Mg > K > S > P. In the rainy season the decreasing order was N > Ca > S > Mg > K > P to MN, and N > Ca> Mg > S > K > P for REA and finally, N > Ca > Mg > K = S > P for RED. Micronutrients were the order Fe > Mn > B > Zn > Cu in the dry season. While the rainy season showed the same order for the MN and REA, and Fe > Mn > B > Zn > Cu, while for the RED was Fe > Mn > Zn > B > CuEste estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a regeneração natural, biomassa e nutrientes da serapilheira e os atributos químicos do solo, como indicadores de recuperação ambiental em uma Unidade de Conservação localizada no município de Alegre, ES. As atividades em campo foram realizadas entre setembro de 2010 e março de 2011, usando-se como tratamentos, três diferentes coberturas florestais inseridas na Área de Relevante Interesse Ecológico (ARIE) Laerth Paiva Gama, sendo uma Mata Nativa (MN), um Reflorestamento de Eucalipto e Acácia (REA) e um Reflorestamento de Espécies Diversas (RED). A regeneração natural foi avaliada pela florística e fitossociologia dos indivíduos; a serapilheira acumulada, pela quantidade de biomassa, teores e acúmulo de nutrientes em duas épocas de coleta, a primeira no final da estação seca e a segunda no final da estação chuvosa; e, os atributos químicos do solo, pela análise da fertilidade em duas profundidades, de 0 a 20 cm e de 20 a 40 cm. Na regeneração natural das coberturas observou-se uma diversidade florística baixa para REA e um pouco maior para MN e RED, elevada dominância de poucas espécies, a equabilidade foi semelhante entre as coberturas e apenas a espécie Leucaena leucocephala (Lam.) de Wit. foi similar entre as mesmas. Em todas as coberturas, a quantidade de biomassa foi maior na estação seca e os valores seguiram a ordem decrescente na quantidade de biomassa em ambas as coletas: REA > RED > MN. Os teores de potássio, magnésio e boro, foram mais altos também na estação seca, enquanto o nitrogênio, fósforo, cálcio, enxofre, cobre, ferro, manganês e zinco, e o teor de carbono orgânico só diferiram entre as coberturas. O acúmulo de nutrientes foi maior na estação seca, corroborando também com o maior acúmulo de biomassa. A ordem decrescente de macronutrientes acumulados para a coleta realizada na estação seca foi na MN e REA: N > Ca > K > Mg > S > P e na RED: N > Ca > Mg > K > S > P. Na estação chuvosa a ordem decrescente foi N > Ca > S > Mg > K > P para a MN, bem como N > Ca > Mg > S > K > P para REA e por fim, N > Ca > Mg > S = K > P para a RED. Os micronutrientes apresentaram a ordem Fe > Mn > B > Zn > Cu na estação seca. Enquanto na estação chuvosa apresentaram a mesma ordem para a MN e REA, sendo Fe > Mn > B > Zn > Cu, já para a RED foi Fe > Mn > Zn > B > C
