O golfinho-rotador-pantropical (Stenella longirostris longirostris) ocorre em águas tropicais e subtropicais de todos os oceanos. No litoral brasileiro, ocorre principalmente em águas tropicais entre 170 e 2700m de profundidade, sendo muito comum em Fernando de Noronha. Pouco se sabe sobre o seu fluxo gênico e diversidade genética no oceano Atlântico Sul.
