Aujourd’hui, les transferts monétaires conditionnels (TMC) sont le nouvel outil à la mode dans les politiques de réduction de la pauvreté. La popularité des TMC dans le monde académique et auprès des institutions internationales repose en grande partie sur les nombreux rapports d'évaluation des TMC qui ont mis en évidence leur efficacité en terme de réduction de la pauvreté aussi bien dans le court que dans le long terme.
