The study of colophon formulae is an extremely recent development in Armenian studies. This paper sets forth the main reasons why such stereotyped patterns deserve close attention, and proposes different methodological pathways. It also introduces the notion of "colophon form" and gives a summary state of the art of studies on colophon formulae in other traditions (Latin, Greek). The conclusions highlight the importance of investigating colophon formulae for a deeper understanding of textual traditions and book mobility in Armenia
