The thesis examines Australia’s security and defence policy. First, it explains the middle power theories and how they apply to Australia’s case. Then, the strategic outlook is described, including Australia’s strategic situation (the arc of instability) and its strategic objectives and interests. Next, is presented the military power of Australia, namely its equipment, its personnel and its bases. The security dilemma is the theoretical framework upon which this chapter is based. Afterwards, the military cooperation is described, including the most important joint military exercises and military alliances/agreements. Lacoste’s “méthode du diatope” is presented as well. Finally, we conclude by explaining our findings.Master [120] en science...
