A pesar de su indiscutible relevancia desde el punto de vista biológico y clínico, el verdadero rol de esta asociación no ha sido aún esclarecido y las publicaciones continúan siendo discrepantes, probablemente, debido a la baja tasa de replicación del virus en este tipo celular.
