Los estilos de enseñanza manifiestan las preferencias en los modos de enseñar de los docentes, las cuales suponen determinadas concepciones de enseñanza (Heimlich & Norland, 2002). La identificación de los estilos de enseñanza es el punto de partida para reflexionar acerca de las prácticas de enseñanza y la coherencia entre la concepción teórica y el modo concreto de enseñar.
