Philosophy in American Conquest

El presente artículo se constituye en una invitación para que los latinoamericanos hagamos una mirada retrospectiva, una vuelta a nuestra historia, para intentar así desentrañar los motivos por los cuales, luego de cinco centurias, llegamos al presente con una filosofía sin una identidad definida. Aquí se sostiene que la dicha situación de la filosofía actual en América Latina, responde a una mutilación efectuada por los invasores españoles a causa del asombro que en ellos suscitaron las extrañas formas de vivir de estos pueblos; mutilación que ha hecho que la conquista continúe siendo vivida, aún hoy, como un proceso negativo de nuestra realidad, que se constituye en la esencia de la historia no oficial descrita desde el punto de vista de los pueblos conquistados.This paper aims to be an invitation to the Latin Americans to make a retrospective glance, a return to our history, to try to unravel the reasons why, after five centuries, we arrive to the present day with a philosophy lacking a defined identity. Here it is maintained that the situation of today's philosophy in Latin America, responds to a mutilation conducted by the Spanish invaders caused by the astonishment provoked by the strange forms of life of these peoples. Mutilation that has caused that the is still experienced, even today, like a negative process of our reality, which constitutes it self as the essence of nonofficial history described from the point of view of the conquered town
