Even though antiheroes have been around for ages they have been somewhat forgotten in the past and made a comeback only recently in the last century. I believe that it cannot be doubted that the emergence of antiheroes in Hollywood cinema was the direct consequence of the social and political changes happening in the 1970s. This can also be seen through the characters from the movies which I analyze in this essay, as they all become antiheroes due to outside influences, such as corruption or as a consequence of war, fighting a seemingly hopeless battle against the system.BSc/BAAnglisztikaB
