The thesis entails a clear understanding of the relationship shared between Multinational Companies, their host Countries and host Communities at large. This study, focuses or provides first hand knowledge about Shell Petroleum Oil Company and its fundamental operations with regards to its Corporate social responsibilities in host communities in Nigeria, especially in the South Southern part of the country, where most of its exploration takes place. It is worthy to note, that most Organisations and Multinational Corporations such as Shell Petroleum Oil company Limited, are concerned with the value they put back, in terms of re-investing to the society in appreciation to the contributions of the societies to their sustenance, survival, profitability and above all, growth. On the other hand, most societies agitate that the input re-invested by these Multinational companies are not commensurate to what they take from these societies, thereby leading to misunderstanding, disruptions and on most occasions, violence, vandalism etc between these societies and the Companies. In this thesis, secondary data is used in addressing issues on the role of the Nigerian government to Multinational Companies, ways of fostering a better working and viable relationship between Host Communities and finally, how Multinational Companies should be reprimanded in cases of violating laws guiding their „Modus Operandi” (mode of operation).MSc/MAInternational Economy And Busines
