The aim of this paper is to provide a closer insight into the importance of The Great Exhibition concerning industry, art and society event and consequently, how it became the symbol of The British Empire. I intend to explore how the different inventions and pieces of art from all over the world, including the British Colonies, created the feeling of Britain’s greatness and power by examining visitor’s statements and reports about The Great Exhibition. What is more, by exploring its legacy I will demonstrate how the Exhibition is still relevant today.MSc/MAAnglisztikaB
