Diabetic foot is one of the major complications occurring in a patient with diabetes. A quick and early diagnosis of the diabetic foot is essential so as to provide early intervention. Without early intervention, this may lead to amputation of the limb affected. A clinical diagnosis is essential at first; the history should be taken about the ulcer, concentrating on the symptoms of neuropathy and peripheral artery disease. On visual examination, alterations can be seen on the affected limb. Upon palpation, (with a pair of sterilized gloves) the temperature can be felt (Coolness, and a decrease pulse, usually indicates peripheral artery disease, while warmth indicates neuropathy).
