Optical coherence tomography in cardiology and the impact of the co-registration with three-dimensional coronary angiography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution imaging technique which can visualize intravascular structures. OCT has improved the visualization in the process of percutaneous coronary intervention. However, being an intravascular imaging modality, OCT cannot show a lumenogram of the entire coronary tree, hence, the interpretation can be challenging. In response, computer based online co-registration of three-dimentional quantitative angiography (3D QCA) and OCT has been introduced.
