Periodontal disease is one of the most common microbial infections in adults. The use of local antibiotics together with periodontal debridement as a treatment option demonstrated similar results as the combined therapy in regard with probing pocket depth, clinical attachment level and plaque index. This results along with the limited distribution of local administration that helps to cope with the universal problem of bacterial resistant, may place this local therapy as the main approach for periodontal treatment in the future. Thus it can be concluded that the use of conventional periodontal debridement together with local antibiotics that are specific to the patient oral pathology is a key factor in treatments success.BSc/BAfogorvosangol...
