My goal in this thesis is to understand how this role and image of housewifery in the 1950s evolved for middle-class women in the United States and how these trends were influenced by historical and social changes in the first half of the twentieth century. I also analyze Betty Friedan’s book, The Feminine Mystique, and introduce the problems that housewives had to face in post-war America.BSc/BAAnglisztikaB
