In the first part of my thesis I am collecting and describing briefly the most frequently occurring, and the most typical lexical relationships that interweave the whole language system. The framework of the first part is built around John Lyons’s (1995) and D. Alan Cruse’s (2000) works but several other linguists’ ideas are also incorporated. In the second part a computerized lexical semantic database, called WordNet will be introduced. It is a useful tool which has opened up new possibilities for natural language researches.
