In my thesis I am going to restrict my investigation to a register of English used by a particular community, namely the authors of book reviews. I would like to deal with a particular type of register: the language of a specific genre of the academic community; the language of academic book reviews. Its aim is to persuade members of the community to buy and read an academic book.
