Cytokine Detection in Human Tears in Various Anterior Segment Eye Conditions (with Special Regard to Penetrating Keratoplasty)

Kimutattuk, hogy humán könnyben az IL-6 és az IL-8 release megnövekszik a szem elülső szegmentumát érintő, általunk vizsgált betegségek és postoperativ állapotok eseteiben. Ez a két interleukin érzékeny indikátora a különböző irritatív elülső szegmentum betegségeknek, külön hangsúlyozva a szaruhártya-átültetéseket. A levett könnymintákból perforáló keratoplastica után 1 éven át hat citokin folyamatos jelenlétét tudtuk igazolni. A korai jelentős citokin válasz műtéti traumának, szöveti destrukciónak illetve a varróanyag irritáló hatásának tulajdonítható. Az eredmények a komplikációmentes szaruhártya-átültetéseket követő komplex immunológiai történésekre mutatnak rá. Cornealis transplantatum rejectio esetén a könnyben mért emelkedett IL-6 és IL-8 és az ezzel együtt járó csökkent IL-10, TNF-α és IL-12p70 szint a szaruhártya átültetést követő graft rejectio indikátora lehet. ----- The results of our experiments have shown, that the release of IL-6 and IL-8 into the tears is enhanced in various anterior segment eye diseases, including penetrating keratoplasty. This fact seems to be used as an indicator of various inflammatory reactions in the early postoperative period. We had proved the continuous release of six cytokines throughout 1 year after uncomplicated penetrating keratoplasty. The early cytokine responses could be attributed to the physical damage to the cornea, a result of tissue injury and the presence of suture material. These findings emphasise the complex immunological events after penetrating keratoplasty. The enhanced release of IL-6 and IL-8 into the tears of patients with corneal graft rejection concomitant with decreased concentrations of IL-10, TNF-α and IL-12p70 may possibly serve as an indicator of the rejection process
