Acute dyspnea due to pulmonary congestion in acute heart failure (AHF) is a common reason for admission to the ER. Currently, AHF is twice as common and associated with a twofold higher risk of death (8%) than acute coronary syndromes (ACS). Pre-hospital and emergency care has become the cornerstone of care of these patients. In recent years, new paradigms have emerged surrounding AHF management, highlighting the complexity of this disease.
