Vinyl sulfides are very important synthetic intermediates in total syntheses and as precursors to a wide range of functionalized molecules. Furthermore, sulfur-containing organiccompounds commonly exhibit biological activity, and hence are frequently found in naturally occuring compounds. Moreover, these compounds have found applications in materials science, and thus are valuable synthetic targets. The increasing demand for vinyl thioethers expedited the development of new synthetic methods for these target compounds.
