The current status is reviewed for theoretical predictions of rare B meson decays proceeding via b → s ¯ transitions. The leptonic decays B d,s → ¯ are under excellent theoretical control, whereas for semi-leptonic decays B → K (*) ¯ hadronic contributions need to be further scrutinised in order to test the standard model and tighten constraints on nonstandard effects
