In this study a series of novel Fe-based materials derived from a bulk metallic glass-forming composition was investigated to improve the ductility of this high-strength glassy alloy. The interplay between the factors chemistry, structure and resulting mechanical properties was analyzed in detail. It has been recognized that subtle modifications of the chemical composition (carbon addition) lead to appreciable changes in the phase formation, which occurs upon solidification (from a single-phase structure to composite materials).
