Correct layering (lamination) of neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) is critical for the tissue functionality. Neuronal lamination is established during development, when the majority of neurons have to move from their birthplace to the appropriate layer, where they function. Therefore, to grasp the logic of CNS development, it is essential to understand the kinetics and modes of the variety of neuronal translocation events.
