This is a comparative study of Korean students\u27 request forms and aspects of their culture that has not been recognized in the field of speech. This offers an explanation for miscommunication between Korean speakers of English and native speakers of English. Lastly, this study provides empirical information about how Korean students use request forms and how Koreans\u27 politeness strategies differ from Americans\u27
