Transformation de l’usage de l’archive dans le cinéma libanais (1975-2015), deux générations face à la guerre civile

International audienceBoth history of Lebanon and history of Lebanese cinema are marked by the civil war that ravaged the country from 1975 to 1990. From a historical point of view, 1975 and 1990 also mark two particularly important dates in the history of the Lebanese cinema: the first one is related to the emergence of a new Lebanese cinema, driven by filmmakers returned to Lebanon after their studies in Europe and which propose a new, independent and more militant form of cinema. The second is linked to a new practice of image, mobilized by a new generation of artists. We analyze in this article the transformation of the use and of the role given to the archive in the Lebanese filmmaking through a comparative study of the works of the both generations.L’histoire du Liban et l’histoire du cinéma libanais sont marquées par la guerre civile qui ravagea le pays de 1975 à 1990. D’un point de vue historique, 1975 et 1990 marquent également deux dates particulièrement importantes dans l’histoire du cinéma libanais : la première est liée à l’apparition d’un nouveau cinéma libanais, impulsé par des cinéastes revenus au Liban après leurs études en Europe qui proposent une nouvelle forme, indépendante et plus militante, de cinéma ; la seconde est liée à une nouvelle pratique de l’image, mobilisée par une nouvelle génération d’artistes. Nous analysons dans cet article la transformation de l’usage et du rôle donné à l’archive dans la création cinématographique libanaise via une étude comparative des œuvres des deux générations
