Recently, the utilization of formic acid (FA) or formate as promising hydrogen carriers through the interconversion between CO<sub>2</sub> and HCOOH or HCO<sub>3</sub><sup>–</sup> and HCOO<sup>–</sup>, respectively, has attracted increasing research interest.
