The column temperature and flow rate are two important variables to determine the speed of separation of compounds in the mixture. The study was conducted to determine the optimum column temperature and flow rate on the separation of food additives mixture containing saccharin, cyclamate, benzoate, sorbate, tartrazine and yellow sunset. Research using high-performance liquid chromatography, reversed phase with the instrument: UFLC 1290 DAD, C18 column 100 mm x 4.6 mm x 3.5 μm. The optimization parameters include the capacity factor, theoretical plate number, resolution, selectivity and tailing factor.
