Effects of MnSOD deficiency on myocardial oxidative stress in chagasic mice.

<p>C57BL/6 (WT, MnSOD^+/-) mice were sacrificed at 150 days post-infection corresponding to chronic disease phase. <b>(A&B)</b> Representative Western blot images for myocardial levels of 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) and GAPDH (loading control) are shown (<b><i>A</i></b>, n = 3 mice per group). Densitometry analysis was performed for Western blot gels representing n = 6 mice per group (duplicate observations per mouse), and data were normalized to GAPDH levels <b><i>(B)</i></b>. The myocardial levels of <b>(C)</b> lipid hydroperoxides / malondialdehydes (MDA) and <b>(D)</b> DNPH-derivatized carbonyl proteins were analyzed by an ELISA (n = 6 mice per group, triplicate observations per mouse). Data in bar graphs are plotted as mean value ± SEM.
