The adsorption of pure SO<sub>2</sub> and H<sub>2</sub>S and their selective adsorption from various gas mixtures by porous aromatic frameworks (PAFs) are investigated using grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations and first-principles density functional theory calculations. The influence of functional groups including −CH<sub>3</sub>, −CN, −COOH, −COOCH<sub>3</sub>, −OH, −OCH<sub>3</sub>, −NH<sub>2</sub>, and −NO<sub>2</sub> on the adsorption of pure SO<sub>2</sub> and H<sub>2</sub>S as well as selective capture of SO<sub>2</sub> and H<sub>2</sub>S from SO<sub>2</sub>/N<sub>2</sub>, SO<sub>2</sub>/CO<sub>2</sub>, H<sub>2</sub>S/CO<sub>2</sub>, and H<sub>2</sub>S/CH<sub>4</sub> mixtures is explored.
