<p>Panel (A and B) shows synovial tissue from the Suppl group with vessels and synovial membrane preserved (arrowhead) and scarce inflammatory cells (arrow). The arthritis group (Panel A and B) has prominent edema, synovial membrane inflammation (arrowhead), cellular inflammatory infiltrate and fibrotic thickening (arrow). In contrast, the IA/Suppl (A and B) groups showed significant reductions in edema, inflammatory cell infiltrates (arrows) and fibrotic thickening in addition to synovial membrane preservation (arrowhead). Panels A and B show peroxidase immunostaining of CD3+ (T lymphocytes), CD20+ (B lymphocytes) and CD68+ (macrophages) in the IA, IA/Suppl and Suppl groups. The synovial tissue of the control shows scarce CD3+ (E), CD20+ and CD68+ (A and B) cells. The immuno-expression of CD3+, CD20+ and CD68+ cells (arrows) in the synovial tissue of the IA/Suppl and Suppl groups is significantly decreased in relation to the IA group.
