This paper discusses the provenance inference from the lead isotope ratios. At first, the author classified the lead isotope ratios of the ore mined in Japan into Group Ia, Group Ib, Group Ic, Group II, Group III, and Group IV. Additionally, the lead isotope ratios of 29 new ore samples were analyzed in this study. As a result, each group of the lead isotope ratios have become clear to distribute in the same area. At last, through the lead isotope ratios, I discuss the provenance of raw material of copper and lead and the beginning time of the mining in ancient Japan
