The article descibes the birth of expressionism in Poland illustrated with the example of the poetry of familiar authors, who have been concentrated around the journal „Zdrój” published in Poznan since 1917. The analysis includes poems and esposés of mentioned writers. The biggest part of the article is dedicated to the interpretations of the output of Adam Bederski and Stanislaw Kubicki. In this liryc poetry certain avant-garde features have been indicated, these are: poetry of montage and simultaneity, metaphysical motifs (disaster and rebirth), grotesque, visionary style. Discussed texts and the works of German expressionists, also those of Apollinaire’s, have been compared, pointing out the relationships with culture and European art
