International audienceThe systematic surveys and paleoenvironmental studies carried out on a large scale in the Limagne plain and on its mountainous margins over the past two decades have contributed to a profound renewal of our perception of the dynamics of land use and landscapes during the end of Antiquity and the beginning of the High Middle Ages.
