22nd Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB), LYON, FRANCE, 10-/07/2016 - 13/07/2016During automotive accidents, the abdomen can be subjected to large deformations leading to internal injuries. Although the abdomen external response has been extensively studied using post mortem human surrogates (PMHS), its internal response during impact is largely unknown, making difficult the internal validation of human models such as the GHBM (Global Human Body Model, www.ghbmc.com). Recently, the liver was imaged in situ during 3 m/s impacts using ultrafast ultrasound imaging. This study investigates whether responses observed in such tests can be simulated using existing human models
