After Ludo Rocher published the Dissertation on the Sanskrit Language in 1977, the work of Paulinus a Sancto Bartholomaeo as a grammarian has not been studied by international scholarship. In spite of having been the author of the first Sanskrit grammar ever printed in Europe , Paulinus was soon forgotten by Westerb scholars, who believed that his manual was a grammar of some vernacular language of South India. An accurate work of exegesis of both Paulinus' grammars, i.e. Sidharùbam seu grammatica Samscrdamica (Roma 1790) and Vyàcarana seu locupletissima Samscrdamicae linguae institutio (Roma 1804), offers the opportunity to study the peculiarities of Sanskrit grammar as taught in Kerala, where Paulinus settled from 1776 to 1789
