This article aims at discussing and evaluating Guida alla storia romana, the new edition of a book written by Guido Clemente and published for the first time forty years ago. In particular, the author tries to examine the ways Clemente managed to assure such a longevity to his treatment of Roman history, and the role played by his broad interpretation
