Celebrating The Black History Month

USIU-Africa has for the past 24 years celebrated the Black History Month with a series of forums and events scheduled on different days of the month of February. This year, the institution marked the celebrations with an official launch ceremony on 3rd February under the theme; The impact of independence in Kenya: The changing lifestyle of the Kenyan people. The month long celebrations are aimed at informing, educating and engaging its audience on matters concerning African History and celebrating not only those whom history recognizes as heroes but also those amongst us who overcome unique obstacles to realize success. This year, the Black History Month committee organized for inspirational speakers such as Mr. Edward Buri and Dr. Ron Archer to engage with the university community. In his talk, Mr. Buri emphasized the importance of merit and character as qualities of culture that were relevant then and appropriate now as we strife to be freedom fighters of choice for a better future for generations to come
