Ideology in periodicals during 1968 Winter Olympic Games and 1968 Summer Olympic Games

This thesis captures the events of the X Olympic Winter Games 1968 and Games of the XIX Olympiad 1968 in context of historical background of political and social evolution in Czechoslovakia from perspective of their that time's presentation manner in the period printed media. It describes basic ideology principles focusing on socialism and communism, 1968 historical context in Czechoslovakia focusing on Warsaw Pact military invasion of the land in August that year, also start and origins of the Olympic movement. The second part of this thesis deals with both 1968 Olympic Games from perspective of the czechoslovakian attendance and brings main related topics turned up in the period periodicals closer. The analysis itself refers to two journals with big social overlap and sport and political theme - they are Československý sport and Rudé právo. The analysis has tried to pointed out the ideological elements in the media contents of the journals which features the Olympic Games, also the Olympic movement thoughts or local political situation. The analysis has further brought summary of how much the journals reported about the 1968 Olympic Games closer, if so and how this kind of media reflection in case of the 1968 Winter Olympics in France and the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico differs from each other..
