The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) was founded in 2006 and the number of projects under its umbrella is steadily growing. The current projects cover content management systems, desktop applications, geospatial libraries, metadata catalogs, spatial databases, and web mapping. OSGeo’s vision is to empower everyone, from pre-university students to professionals, with open source geospatial applications, tools and resources (OSGeo 2017).
