This paper proposes the level set based design optimization of magnetic actuator using the adaptive remeshing technique. To get the clear boundary of optimal configuration, the level set method is employed. In the conventional level set based optimization, the level set boundary depends on the initial mesh. However, since the electromagnetic force for the actuator design is calculated by integrating the Maxwell’s stress tensor over the exterior surfaces of thedesign domain, the adaptive remeshing technique is employed to place nodes on the surfaces.
