A one-pot, facile and ecofriendly approach to the fabrication of covalently fluorinated graphene using mild reaction conditions is reported. This straightforward and efficient strategy allows fluorine groups to be covalently and stably anchored onto graphene to produce single-layer functionalized graphene sheets from a graphene oxide precursor. This research was supported by Korea Institute of Science and Technology and partially by Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Fundation of Korea (2010-0022633) and by the Fundamental R&D Program for Technology of World Premier Materials and Graphene Part & Material Development Program (MOTIE 10044380) through the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy
