Adaptation of children growing up in foster care in pre-school facilities

This bachelor thesis describes how children growing up in foster care adapt to preschool facilities. It tries to answer the question if this process is different for children living with their biological families and if it is beneficial for the child from foster care to integrate with its peers. It also focuses on the approach of preschool teachers to this issue, their openness, knowledge of the issue and their readiness to integrate these children with the rest of the class. The theoretical part deals with the notion of adaptation and substitute family care. During the research, three in-depth interviews were conducted. In the practical part, the most important segments of the interview, that were included, largely answer the research questions. These segments were completed by my own comments supported publications on this topic. The results of the thesis showed that the adaptation is such an individual process that we cannot generalize the process of adaptation of children from foster care. However, all the participants in this study agreed that children from foster care show specific behavior and that their integration with their peers is beneficial.
